Born and raised in Lawrence, Massachusetts. Yami graduated from Abbott Lawrence Academy in 2022, and received her Bachelor's degree in Political Science with a minor in Pre-Law in May 2026 at Merrimack College. With a little over five years of experience working with youth and teaching advocacy, due to her previous role as a Spoken Word fellow with Andover Bread Loaf, she now serves as the Youth Coordinator and Leadership Organizer. In this role, she teaches Lawrence youth about civic knowledge, leadership, and community service through workshops and networking.
